If you or your little muggles want to collect Harry Potter Legos, start with the Philosopher's Stone series of kits. This first Harry Potter movie has the most kits available of all the series, fourteen in all, and as it's the beginning of the whole Harry Potter adventures, it's the best place to start. In this article, I'll tell you the sets you need for a complete first-book collection.
1. Hogwart's castle
This set is huge, with over 600 pieces, but is by far the most impressive and essential for building the rest of your collection around. It includes the most characters: Harry, Ron and Hermione of course, and Hagrid, Dumbledore, Snape, Draco Malfoy plus a Gryffindor Knight and a ghost (probably Nearly Headless Nick). With details like moving spiral staircases, revolving portraits (including the fat lady outside Gryffindor), trap doors, secret compartments, the boat and a clock tower with a swinging pendulum, Hogwart's castle is the centerpiece for the rest of the sets.
2. Hogwart's Express
This set includes the engine, passenger car and train station. Each piece is almost exactly like in the movie, right down to the 'secret' entrance to platform 9 3/4!
3. Sorting Hat
Where the new students get their house assignments. This set is small, 49 pieces, and comes with the sorting hat, Hedwig the owl, 2 goblets, 2 torches and a scroll.
4. The Final Challenge
Where Harry confronts Voldemort! Comes with Professor Quirrell, spider web catapult, torches and revolving secret door (Mirror of Erised) that hides the Philosopher's Stone.
5. Chamber of Winged Keys
Along with Harry and Ron, this set includes a roof with shingles, a big spider and web, a chess piece, and (of course) a broomstick and winged keys to chase and capture.
6. Snape's Classroom
Where the students learn the dark arts! Includes a glow-in-the-dark Professor Snape, potion bottles, a cauldron, a hidden ghost, Scabbers the rat, and Trevor the toad hidden in a desk.
7. Forbidden Corridor
Lots of trouble for Harry and the gang here, with Fluffy the three-headed dog and the trap door that leads to the Devil Snare plant.
8. Hagrid's Hut
Includes Hagrid and Dumbledore, Hedwig, Scabbers and, of course, Hagrid's beloved baby dragon.
9. Flying Lesson
Every wizard has to learn how to fly! Comes with Harry and Draco, flames, broomsticks.
10. Troll on the Loose
The battle in the bathroom, complete with a spilling sink, falling stones, and of course the troll and his club.
11. Gringott's Bank
The only set to include the goblins! Has the car and track, vault with money, and a Hagrid figure.
12. Hogwart's Classrooms
Makes many different classrooms and is a good playset. Includes a Mirror of Erised, three desks with chairs, cauldron and a picture of Harry's parents.
13. Gryffindor House
Attaches to Hogwart's Castle, and you can enter through the fat lady portrait! Includes the dormitory and common room, cupboards that open and close, canopy beds and lots of other little details.
14. Diagon Alley Shops
Stock up on magical supplies! Lots of hats and bottles and other little items. Makes 2 shops.
